Elsie Whittington

Lecturer in Criminology, Manchester Metropolitan University

Over the last five years, I have taught across a range of disciplines including Social work, Education, Sociology, Criminology and Childhood and Youth Studies. Over this time I have also researched a range of topics including, but not limited to, sexual health and wellbeing, sexual violence, safeguarding children, youth participation, sex and relationships education, and digital pedagogies.

Before joining Manchester Metropolitan University I worked and studied at the University of Sussex, in Brighton. Here I taught as an associate tutor and lecturer for Sociology, Social Work, and Childhood and Youth studies gaining experience teaching and supervising at Postgraduate and Undergraduate level. I also worked, and sat on the steering group, for the Centre for Innovation and Research In Childhood and Youth for three years supporting its development as a university-wide, and internationally recognised center for interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
