Emily Torricelli is a recent graduate of the University of York. Her interests are in trans/national cinemas, and her PhD thesis, 'Projecting the Nation: Constructions of Scotland in Film Since 1979', explores questions of the continued significance of national cinemas and identities by focusing on the way films have been constructed as Scottish by asking how multiple identities are balanced in the filmic construction of Scotland by considering both how Scottish films construct Scottish identities and how these identities are perceived by film critics. Emily also holds an MFA in Screenwriting from Boston University and in her spare time works on script and prose projects.
