As an associate professor in management at the University of Melbourne, I am constantly finding links between the news and what I teach in strategy and change management classes. These two classes are also highly complementary, as not only does it take work to create a new strategic vision, it's also quite a challenge to then embed that using organizational change practices.
My research also shapes how I see the world. With my PhD in sociological from the University of Chicago, I generally focus on new market emergence, through issues such as valuation, calculative practices and the categories used by people and organizations.
I've had the opportunity to further my theoretical interests in several different empirical contexts, including the emergence of art as a legitimate financial asset category and Grid computing. Along with work on management innovations like flexible working and cross-disciplinary teams, I am looking forward to working in new areas along with my PhD students.
