Professor of Molecular Epidemiology, Uppsala University

For the past ten years, I have been interested in the link between metabolic disturbances, such as obesity and insulin resistance, and the development of subclinical and clinical cardiovascular disease.

My research is translational and interdisciplinary, combining methods from the molecular epidemiology field - such as genomic, metabolomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic and proteomic profiling in large population-based studies - with functional work in zebrafish and cell-based models to reach new insights into the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease and related conditions, identification of new biomarkers for improved risk prediction, and discovery of novel targets for drug development.

My research group is located at Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden, and we are team of about 20 motivated scientists that wants to improve cardiovascular health.
