I am a current PhD candidate at the University of Canterbury, specialising in tectonic and fluvial geomorphology. I transferred from an MSc in 2021, before which I completed my BSc. Prior to returning to university, I worked as an insurance professional in the Canterbury earthquake response. This allowed me to see how the impacts of large disaster events can cause devastating consequences that continue to ripple through society long after the initial event. As such, my academic and private industry experiences within the earthquake response sector grants me a unique perspective on how society prepares for, and responds to natural disaster events.
