Assistant Professor of Law, University of Canberra

Fanny Thornton is Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Canberra's School of Law and Justice, where she teaches Human Rights Law, Public International Law and Legal Theory. Her primary research interest is in the area of cross-border responses to human displacement in the climate change context. She also co-leads the inter-disciplinary Commons Research Program based at the University of Canberra's Faculty of Business, Government and Law. The program is dedicated to research on the increasing commodification of non-traditional commons (those not resource-based and usually stemming from social or cultural life itself) and neglected commons (those seemingly requiring communal regulation but neglected for lack of profit opportunity).
