Research Affiliate, School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, University of Oxford

I am an ecological anthropologist whose work in northern Mexico and Paraguay focuses on the connections between language, landscape, narrative, and knowledge. My particular interest is ecological knowledge revitalization in service of Indigenous peoples' and local communities' resource and land rights. My recent writings are on narratives of deep historical ecologies in the Americas. As the director of ethnoecology for the Ethno-ornithology World Atlas (EWAtlas.net) project, I work with our interdisciplinary team to investigate links between naming practices, changing landscapes, and archival returns in digital environments.
