Senior Research Fellow (Institute for Social Science Research & Life Course Centre) and ARC DECRA Fellow, The University of Queensland

Dr Francisco (Paco) Perales holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from London Metropolitan University, a Masters degree in Sociology and Panel Data Analysis from the University of Essex, and a PhD in Social and Economic Research from the Institute for Social and Economic Research.

His research revolves around issues of gender, work and families, with a particular interest in the production and reproduction of gender inequalities at home and at work. His work often relies on principles of the life-course approach and his methodological expertise is on the analysis of longitudinal survey data.

Recently, Dr Perales was awarded an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) to undertake a project which will provide new systematic Australian evidence of social stratification by sexual orientation across a diversity of life domains, and identify mechanisms driving the associations between sexual-minority status and life outcomes.
