Frank Edmund Smith

Professor Emeritus of English Literature, Harper College

I have a traditional, old-school, Ph.D. in English literature from Loyola, Chicago with specialties in Twentieth Century short fiction and fiction theory. For a while I was considered the world authority on the writing of A. E. Coppard, for whatever that's worth now. During my 30+ year career I taught basic rhetoric, creative writing, business writing, and a range of literature courses, especially fiction. I also founded and ran White Eagle Coffee Store Press, publisher for 20 years of small books of literary poetry and fiction.

I've published on Dickens and Coppard and continue to work at writing my own short fiction, which on rare occasions gets published.
