My interest in children and young peoples mental health is driven by the desire to help improve lives of children affected by poor mental health, and ameliorate access and availability of effective evidence-based services and treatments. Previous exposure working across different departments within the medical school at the University of Exeter on a variety of studies has highlighted the strength of interdisciplinary work and focused my research into four main areas: Epidemiology; Mental health services; Mental health in schools; Physical and mental health of children and young people. I am proud to be an active committee member for the Devon and Cornwall branch of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health which connects and encourages research and services to meet, and understand how this can be improved to benefit those who need support.
