Frederick Knight

Professor of History, Morehouse College

Fred Knight is professor of history at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He has held fellowships at the Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American and African Studies at the University of Virginia, the Center for Black Studies at the University of California-Santa Barbara, the John Nicholas Brown Center for the Study of American Civilization, and the history department at University of California-Riverside, where he completed his Ph.D. He has also taught at the University of Memphis and Colorado State University.

Dr. Knight has published numerous articles and book chapters on African American history, and is the author of Working the Diaspora: The Impact of African Labor on the Anglo-American World, 1650-1850 and Black Elders: The Meaning of Age in American Slavery and Freedom.
