My main area of research is into industrial clusters with a particular focus on the broadcasting and financial services industries. Current research themes include regional differences in cluster performance, the influences on multinational enterprise location within clusters, with particular emphasis on technology spillovers and innovation, and their impact and the relationship between clusters and entrepreneurship, including international entrepreneurship and small firm internationalisation strategies.

I am currently working on a British Academy-sponsored project on Technology Spillovers and the Location Strategies of Multinational Enterprises.

Previous research in this area has been sponsored by the ESRC, the British Academy and the Corporation of London.
