PhD Candidate in International Law, University of Leicester

Currently conducting postgraduate research in support of PhD in International Law.

My research is looking into the international legal nature of self-determination as invoked by sub-State secessionist regions within democratic states adhering to requirements under the so-called 'safeguard clause' and entitled to enforcement of territorial integrity. Specific case studies are to be conducted in relation to Quebec/Canada, Scotland/UK, and Catalonia/Spain, whereby the 'act' of self-determination is effected by means of popular referenda.

(Full disclosure: I am a British/EU and a Canadian citizen.)
