Lecturer and Masters of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) Course Coordinator, The University of Western Australia

I have worked as a Pre-school manager in Ireland for two decades. During that time I visited the Nordic countries to see what is regarded as the optimum in childcare services. I was fortunate to spend time studying in Reggio Emilia in northern Italy where I saw the application of post-modern principles in childcare services .

My research looks at policy and practice. I have explored elements of quality in pre-school services through the application of International Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS/R/E).

My teaching includes
Sociology of Early Childhood Education (Montessori to Malaguzzi)
Child Protection and Welfare
National and International ECEC Policy,
Research Methodologies
Philosophy of Early Childhood Education and Care

I worked in St. Nicholas Montessori College, Dublin, Ireland overseeing, curriculum design, and incorporating the Irish Early Years Learning Framework into the Montessori programme.

I moved to Perth WA in 2013 to work on curriculum design, lecture and research. I now coordinate the Masters of Teaching in Early Childhood Education and Care
