Associate Professor of Sociology, Oberlin College and Conservatory

I am Associate Professor of Sociology at Oberlin College and a member of the Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies Program.

I am the author of a book, "The Cultural Politics of European Prostitution Reform: Governing Loose Women," and articles about gentrification, gay bars, the state, and inequality. Professor Libby Murphy and I co-created a digital humanities project on early 19th century prostitution in Paris, "In Search of Lost Women." I’m also working on a book about changes in gay bars in the United States over the last 20 years.
