I am Professor of Sociology at Oberlin College and a member of the Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies Program.
I am the author of two books, "Who Needs Gay Bars: Bar-Hopping through America's Endangered LGBTQ+ Places" and "The Cultural Politics of European Prostitution Reform: Governing Loose Women," and articles about gentrification, gay bars, the state, and inequality. Professor Libby Murphy and I co-created a digital humanities project on early 19th century prostitution in Paris, "In Search of Lost Women."
