Dr. Gwinyai Masukume is a Medical Doctor and Public Health researcher with expertise in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
His main interest is Women’s health, in particular the possible long-term effects of Cesarean section delivery on those born by this mode.
Ectopic pregnancy, gestational anemia, cervical and esophageal cancers, the sex ratio at birth and using Wikimedia (which hosts Wikipedia) as a scholarly open access publishing platform are some of his other research interests.
He is also one of the world’s foremost experts on food-related medical terms, a subject that he blogs about for the Annals of Improbable Research, the organization which awards the annual Ig Nobel prize at Sanders Theatre, Harvard University.
He has made scholarly contributions, including in pre-eminent journals like The Lancet and Nature and contributed to medical textbooks. Dr. Masukume routinely collaborates with scientists on five continents and several islands.
Gwinyai was the Assistant Editor of the WikiJournal of Medicine (2015-2023).
