Carnegie SFM Postdoctoral fellow, Central European University

Harout Akdedian is Carnegie SFM Postdoctoral Fellow at the Central European University‘s Center for Religious Studies in Budapest. His current research focuses on religion, state and disintegration in Syria.

Dr. Akdedian was a research fellow at the Human Rights Center in Costa Rica, and worked as a freelance journalist in Syria and Lebanon. He has written and taught on Middle East Politics, Islamic Studies, Peace and Conflict studies and International Law. He has a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of New England in Australia, and has completed degrees in Political Science and International Law.
