Helen Branthwaite

Senior Lecturer, Clinical Biomechanics, Staffordshire University

The early part of my career focused on clinical podiatric practice specialising in clinical biomechanics and musculoskeletal pathology. I worked as an advanced practitioner in the NHS delivering a musculoskeletal service to the outpatient orthopaedic and podiatric surgery departments. I continue to practice as an advanced podiatrist in the private sector where I have gained vast experience in managing foot and ankle injuries and pathologies with over 25 years clinical practice.
Additional to my clinical practice I lead the postgraduate course in Clinical Biomechanics at Staffordshire University, this multidisciplinary award provides a platform for allied health clinicians to gain valuable biomechanics training applicable to musculoskeletal practice. This award supports my research profile which has focused on footwear and the clinical implications of choice and more recently the work I am currently completing on balance and stability.
