Director, Education Studio, Macquarie University

Helen has been interested in educational innovation and its practical implementation in higher education for over 30 years. She has been responsible for the successful implementation and provided consultancy for many institutional educational technology initiatives and is well respected nationally as an educational innovator. As well as being Director of The Education Studio, she also manages the Educational Design and Development group at Macquarie University, which facilitates the development of new approaches to teaching.

She is also the current President of the Australasian Council on Open, Distance and e-Learning (ACODE) and is a faculty member of the ACODE Learning Technologies Leadership Institute. In 2003 she founded the Journal of University Teaching and Learning Practice (JUTLP), published by the University of Wollongong, Australia. Since 1993 she has been involved with the Australasian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education (ascilite), having been President for 4 years. In 2006 her contribution to ascilite was recognised by a fellowship and lifelong membership. She also regularly contributes to the the New Media Consortium's Horizon Project reports on the Technology Outlook for Australian Tertiary Education.
