Helen’s research interests include; gender, celebrity and consumer culture. Her PhD focussed on the cultural uses and function of fashion in contemporary US television. In particular, she examined the ways in which texts seek to educate viewers in how fashion is used to construct and resist mainstream cultural identities.
She is the module organiser for Consumer Culture & Society; Gender & Power; Media and Society; Studying Media. She also teaches on Language and Gender; Sport, Communication and Society.
