Professor of Forest Management and Governance, Centre for International Forestry Research

Herry Purnomo is a scientist with advance knowledge on multi-level governance, adaptive collaborative management, and action research. He has been working on landscape management, criteria and indicator for sustainable forest management, policy science, conflict resolution, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, carbon life cycle, reforestation fund, and value chain analysis. He also experienced in facilitating multi-stakeholder discussion.
His academic background is agricultural meteorology, computer science/artificial intelligence and forestry. He works extensively in Asia, including China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines in collaboration with scientists from Asia, Africa and Latin America. He has more than 20 years of professional experiences – working independently and in a team with inter-governmental organizations like CIFOR, ICRAF, IUCN and the World Bank, international and grassroots NGOs (WWF, TNC, AMAN – the Indonesia indigenous people network) and think tank institution and university, such as CIRAD – a French research institution, Bogor Agricultural University, UPM, UPLB, and FORDA of Ministry of Forestry, Indonesia.
