Huw Joseph Horgan

Associate Professor of Geophysical Glaciology, Te Herenga Waka — Victoria University of Wellington

I am an Associate Professor of Geophysical Glaciology at Victoria University of Wellington's Antarctic Research Centre. My doctorate was awarded in 2009 by the Pennsylvania State University for research using applied geophysical methods to study elements of ice sheets that control their mass balance. This includes examining what lies beneath Antarctica's great ice streams and ice shelves. I've completed 13 Antarctic seasons, most recently as Co-PI and science lead for Project-1 (Antarctic Ice Dynamics) of Aotearoa New Zealand's Antarctic Science Platform. I am also a recipient of a Rutherford Discovery Fellowship.
