Postdoctoral Fellow in Bioinformatics, University of the Western Cape

I have an undergraduate in computer sciences and physics and a masters in theoretical physics. After a stint working for several software companies, I completed a PhD in bioinformatics, hoping to use my computational and mathematical skills in something that could be directly beneficial in a South African context. I work on tools that improve the accuracy of genetic analyses, particularly in the areas of HIV drug resistance testing and HIV vaccine development. I work in Prof Simon Travers' group at the University of the Western Cape, and co-founded Hyrax Biosciences, a company that facilitates affordable HIV drug resistance testing.
