Currently, Irawan is pursuing his PhD degree at the School of Political Science and International Studies, The University of Queensland, Australia. He is doing research on the localization of the right to asylum norm in Southeast Asia. Profession wise, Irawan is a lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta. From the period of 2021-2022, he is active as the Head of International Relations Commission of the Overseas Indonesian Student Association Alliance (PPI Dunia).
