Ismatu Ropi

Ismatu Ropi is a senior lecturer at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University. He lectures on local religions, new religious movement, theories on religious studies, Judaism, Christianity in Indonesia, state and religion specialising on government regulations on religion.

He is also the director of research at the Centre for the Study of Islam and Society, where he researches and publishes on issues relating to religious life in Indonesia, civil society in Muslim community, Muslim-Christian relations, good governance in Indonesia.

Ismatu completed his PhD from the Australian National University on state-religion in Indonesia and Master of Arts from McGill University on religious studies.
