Ittay Weiss is a cofounder of We was a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Portsmouth where he worked from 2016 till 2022. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in mathematics cum laude from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and his Ph.D. from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. He held lectureship positions in Utrecht and later in Fiji, before moving to England.

Ittay's research interests are in topology, homotopy theory, metric geometry, and category theory. He is particularly drawn to practical abstractions with an algebraic flavour, as he is working on solving problems by employing categorical techniques. Other than these research topics, he is interested in broad aspects of mathematics, its interactions with society, and the history of mathematics.
