Professor, School of Journalism, Ryerson University

Ivor Shapiro is the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs in the Faculty of Communication and Design, and a full professor at Ryerson University’s School of Journalism. He teaches ethics, media law and feature writing, and conducts research into journaflists’ professional identity and values. He is the principal investigator of a study of Canadian journalists’ professional identity and values, funded by a SSHRC Insight Grant, within the Canadian World of Journalism Study (cwjs-ecmj.ca). Ivor is the past chair of the ethics advisory committee of the Canadian Association of Journalism, and founding editor of J-Source.ca. Prior to coming to Ryerson, he was a magazine journalist; he was a contributing editor of Saturday Night magazine and managing editor of Chatelaine.
