Iwan Awaluddin Yusuf is a full-time lecturer and researcher in journalism, gender, digital media, and superhero as a pop culture study. Apart from teaching in the university, Iwan is the Head of the Department of Communications, Universitas Islam Indonesia (2022-now), Chief Executive Officer of UNISIA Radio in Yogyakarta (2021-now). He is also an active researcher for Media Regulations and Regulators Watch, an independent research institution in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

He won several research and writing competitions such as Session Best Presenter at the World Conference on Media and Mass Communication (MEDCOM) Kuala Lumpur Malaysia 2017. 2nd Winner of Indonesia Media Research Awards and Summit (IMRAS) 2015 by Indonesian Association Publishers, and Top 5 Best Paper in Conference on Media, Communications and Sociology (2014).
