Chief Executive Officer, Museums Victoria Research Institute

Directed the excavation of Norton Priory in Cheshire, England and developed a site museum 1971-82.

Directed the development of the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester in the buildings of the world's oldest railway station 1983-2002.

Chief Executive Officer of Museum Victoria, comprising Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks Museum, Immigration Museum and the Royal Exhibition Building world heritage site 2002- present.

Chair of the Council of Australasian Museum Directors, Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Arts, Deakin University, Honorary Professorial Fellow with the University of Melbourne, a member of the Australian World Heritage Advisory Committee and an ambassador for Club Melbourne. He is also a Fellow of the Tourism Society, Museums Association and the Institute of Public Administration of Australia.

Holds a BSc and PhD from Leeds University, Honorary Doctor of Science Degree from the University of Salford.
