Jack Hardwicke

Dr. Hardwicke is a Senior Lecturer in the Sociology of Sport. Jack co-leads the first year module Sport, Culture and Society, whilst also contributing to the second year Sociology of Sport, the Body and Health module, and the third year Contemporary Issues in Sport module. Dr. Hardwicke supervises research dissertations in the sociology of sport focusing on concussion and injury in sport, experiences of minority groups in sport and physical activity settings and promotion of physical activity for health.

Dr. Hardwicke joined NTU in July 2023. In 2021, Jack was awarded his PhD in the Sociology of Sport from Winchester University under the supervision of Prof. Eric Anderson. He also holds a BA in Sociology, and a PGCert in Research Skills Winchester University. Jack has completed a PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and is a fellow of the HEA. Prior to working at NTU, Dr. Hardwicke was a Lecturer in Health Sociology at the University of Northampton.

Research areas: Dr. Hardwicke's research focuses on using social science to examine a range of issues across the thematic areas of sport, physical activity and health. His current research focuses on:
Sport-acquired brain injuries
Use and value of greenspaces for public health
Physical activity promotion in the general population
