Jacob's teaching and research interest is located at the intersection between communications, war, and peace in contemporary society. His previous academic appointments include New York University (Center on International Cooperation) and American University of Nigeria (Department of Communications and Multimedia Design). Jacob’s advisory and consultancy experience include the United Nations (Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions), the World Bank, the United States Institute of Peace, and Nigeria's North East Regional Initiative. Jacob earned his PhD in Communications Studies from the University of Leeds, and MA in Peace Studies from Lancaster University, UK. He is the author of 'Convincing Rebel Fighters to Disarm: UN Information Operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo' (De Gruyter 2017) and other works.
