James Mittra is an Innogen Research Fellow and lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. James is interested in innovation and regulation of life science industries and translational medicine.

His academic background is in sociology and philosophy, although his PhD research on the impact of new types of genetic information on the UK life assurance industry, which was conducted in the sociology department at Warwick University, drew on broader interests in philosophy, political theory, social policy and history.
