Jamie L. Small completed her doctoral training at the University of Michigan with a joint degree in Sociology and Women’s Studies. Coming from the law and society tradition, her research centers broadly on the intersection of law, crime, and gender, with a specific focus on the construction of masculine vulnerability. She is working on a book manuscript that examines how legal actors mobilize the law for men who are sexual victims. Alongside her scholarship, Dr. Small has worked in, respectively, the intimate partner violence and HIV/AIDS prevention fields in San Francisco, Montreal, and Detroit.
