History at world class universities for 10 years : UCL, Cambridge, LSE. Then a spell of 14 years in the media industry as a TV presenter, news journalist and independent producer. Then back to the Academy again, this time combining training in history with media , i.e. researching media history.

Now a research leader, running grants from RCUK. Published with 8 books, many articles, 200 TV and documentary programmes and some radio. Currently curating exhibitions based on research findings, and doing a AHRC funded consultancy on BBC programming for World War One, entitled 'World War One at Home'.

I am also a research associate at Wolfson College Cambridge. I specialise in WW1 and aftermaths, and comparative international method, including Australian, French and Indian newspaper and media history.
