Janet's research interests are pioneering professional women, particularly Australian army nurses serving in WW1 and WW2 and the first generation of women clergy in the Anglican Church in Australia. She has recently curated an exhibition entitled 'Gone to War as Sister: East Melbourne Nurses in the Great War' (2015, 2016). She is also a co-editor of and contributor to 'Preachers, Prophets and Heretics: Anglican Women's Ministry' (New South, 2012), a collection of essays on the bitter controversy over the ordination of women in the Anglican Church in the 1980s and early 1990s.
