Senior Sport Scientist, Institute of Sport, Exercise and Active Living (ISEAL), Victoria University

Dr Jason Berry holds a joint position as Senior Sport Scientist with the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Active Living (ISEAL) at Victoria University and Maribyrnong Sports Academy (MSA) at Maribyrnong College. MSA is the sporting specialist school of the Victorian State Government supporting over 500 student-athletes.

Dr Berry is leading the establishment of a systematic program of research aimed to maximize knowledge transfer between the world leading sport science research at VU and the development of best-practice coaching and athlete development initiatives at MSA. This research-to-practice cycle and associated innovation will ensure MSA continues to set the international benchmark for specialist sport schools. Dr Berry lectures into the Bachelor of Sport Coaching degree and provides specialist coaching into the AFL program at MSA.

Dr Berry formerly held the position of Skill Acquisition Specialist at the Essendon Football Club 2006 to 2010 (well before the Performance Enhancing Drugs scandal). As part of this role, he was the Football Science Manager for the High Performance Research Alignment between the Essendon Football Club and the University of Ballarat (now Federation University).

Dr Berry was awarded his PhD in skill acquisition (development of sport expertise) from The University of Queensland. He is a First-Class Honours graduate from the University of Ballarat with a Sports Coaching major.
