Associate Professor and Director of the Terrorism Research Center, University of Arkansas

Jeff Gruenewald, PhD, is the Director of the Terrorism Research Center (TRC) and Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology & Criminology at University of Arkansas. He serves as principal investigator for the American Terrorism Study (ATS) and U.S. Bias Homicide Database (BHDB), and as co-principal investigator for the U.S. Extremist Crime Database (ECDB). His current work is funded by the National Institute of Justice (Department of Justice) and applies Risk Terrain Modeling techniques to American terrorism cases and provides a web platform known as the ATS CoRR for U.S. Attorneys and homeland security professionals to access data on terrorism, violent extremism, and criminal justice responses to various forms of targeted violence. Dr. Gruenewald publishes research in areas of terrorism, hate crime and violent extremism, homeland security policy, and the media construction of violence.
