I am a film historian and filmmaker, specialized in non-fiction filmmaking, documentary and ethnographic film history, North African cinema, and film festivals. I've published five books, numerous book chapters and articles, as well as Op-Eds. My documentary film, "Still Moving: Pilobolus at Forty," www.pilobolusfilm.com, premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival in California in 2012. My monograph on the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, "Telluride in the Film Festival Galaxy," was published by the University of St Andrews in 2016. That same year, I co-edited a peer-reviewed issue of the "New Review of Film and Television Studies" on "Film Festivals: Origins and Trajectories." I was a 2015-16 OpEd Project Public Voices Fellow.
