Jennifer Mallon

Research scientist, Georgia Southern University

Dr Mallon is a Fulbright Research Scholar based at Mote International Center for Reef Research and Restoration in the Florida Keys in collaboration with the Coastal Carbon Laboratory at Georgia Southern University. She was awarded her PhD in marine biogeochemistry from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 2022 for her work on the metabolism of tropical coral reefs and seagrasses. She has received prestigious fellowships from the US-UK Fulbright Commission and the Smithsonian Institution Postdoctoral Research Fellowship program and was selected as a University of Glasgow World Changer. Between 2020 to 2023 she was the co-chair of the International Coral Reef Society Student and Early Career Chapter and continues as a mentor and advocate for student researchers. Since 2015, as a student and dive professional, Jenny worked on reef conservation and restoration in Akumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico, collaborating with the Coralium Laboratory of the National Autonomous University of Mexico on coral sexual reproduction for restoration.
