Senior Research Fellow, University of York

Jerry Swan received his Ph.D. in pure mathematics from Nottingham University, Nottingham, UK in 2006. He is an Associate Research Fellow at the Computer Science Department, University of York, UK. Before becoming an academic, he worked in industry as a systems architect and software company owner. His research interests include pure mathematics and artificial intelligence (e.g. metaheuristic optimization, symbolic computation and machine learning). He has published ~100 papers on the above and related topics in international journals and conferences. He has lectured and presented his research worldwide, and has been running international workshops and tutorials on the automated design of algorithms since 2011.
