Teaching Fellow, University of Sussex

Dr Jill Kirby is currently a Teaching Fellow in the School of History of Art, History and Philosophy at Sussex and convenes the Foundation Year Making History course. She is interested in twentieth-century British history, particularly histories of everyday life, emotion and health.

She is currently working on her first book, 'Feeling the strain: a cultural history of stress in 20th century Britain', which will be published by MUP in 2018. She recently started work on a new project on loneliness, beginning with research into the everyday experience of lodgers and the families they lodged with.
