Dr. Jim Elmslie is founding Co-convener of the West Papua Project at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, the University of Sydney. He has researched West Papuan politics since his first visit there in 1987. His Ph.D. at Sydney University entitled, ‘Irian Jaya Under the Gun: Indonesian economic development versus West Papua Nationalism’, was published by the University of Hawaii Press in 2002. Previously a research fellow, Dr Elmslie is currently a visiting scholar at the University of Sydney.
