Jo Chandler

Jo Chandler is an award-winning Australian journalist, author, editor, and educator. In 2017 she joined the University of Melbourne’s Centre for Advancing Journalism, and continues as an Honorary Fellow at Deakin University’s Contemporary Histories Research Group. She is the winner of the Walkley Foundation’s 2017 Freelance Journalist of the Year Award.She has won numerous awards including a Walkley Award (Commentary, Opinion and Analysis), the George Munster Award for Independent Journalism 2013, the Australian Council for International Development Media Award 2013, and the University of NSW Bragg Prize for Science Journalism 2012. She is also a patient advocate on TB, having contracted MDR-TB while working in PNG.
