Professor of Management and Director, Institute for Social Responsibility, Edge Hill University

Formerly Executive Dean of the Institute of Business and Law and Aberystwyth University and Head of Department at Salford Business School, Jo’s research interests lie in civil society development, corporate social responsibility and state-society-business relations, predominantly in former Soviet Union countries.

Jo started her career as a consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers working mainly in Former Soviet Union (FSU) countries. She then combined her interest in environmental protection and her knowledge of FSU countries to complete a PhD at Nottingham University Business School on corporate greening in the Russian Federation. She has since won grants from both the British Academy and ESRC looking at greening, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and civil society development across the Former Soviet Union and China.

Jo has published circa 70 journal articles, conference papers and book chapters. She sits on the Editorial Board of Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management Journal.
