Research Fellow in Education, Monash University

Jo Gleeson is a Research Fellow with the Q Project in the Faculty of Education at Monash University, investigating how educators use research evidence in their practice. Jo draws from cross-sectoral professional experience in executive human resource management, business consulting, careers counselling and education, as well as education research, and has worked in secondary schools, large Australian and international corporate organisations, professional services and tertiary education.

Her current research agenda centres on quality evidence-use by educators and the benefits for teaching practices. Her broader scholarly interests encompass youth transitions and employability, as well as adolescent career development and education. She has contributed to research into evidence-based practice in different sectors, transcultural capacity in teachers, inter-generational education and employment trajectories of women, elite higher education excellence programs, and youth transitions broadly. Her PhD research focussed on creating a measure of adolescent career identity to support more effective careers education at secondary school levels and improved youth transitions from education to work.
