Lecturer in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Ulster University

Joanne is a lecturer in musculoskeletal physiotherapy at Ulster University. She completed her undergraduate training at Ulster University and her Masters Degree at the University of Otago, New Zealand. Joanne worked clinically in the NHS as an advanced practitioner physiotherapist prior to being awarded an HSC R&D Doctoral Fellowship in 2013. This award funded her research into the development and evaluation of behaviour change interventions. Her research focused on understanding the factors that influence health behaviours in individuals with musculoskeletal pain and the clinical practice behaviours of healthcare professionals. Joanne is keen to improve the integration of research evidence into practice and has been involved in developing, implementing and evaluating several programmes of care for patients with complex pain disorders. She has published her work and has presented locally, nationally and internationally.
