Joaquín M.C. Belart currently works as coordinator of Remote Sensing at the National Land Survey of Iceland, and as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Iceland, since 2018.
His main research field is glaciology and remote sensing, and he is also involved in other disciplines of remote sensing in Earth Sciences, such as volcano monitoring and ice-volcano interaction. He also works on the processing and validation of open-source geospatial datasets, such as multi-temporal Digital Elevation Models and orthoimages.
