Professor of Law, University of Newcastle

Worked in legal practice as a criminal prosecutor with ODPP (NSW) for approximately eight years before becoming an academic. Worked as a Lecturer in Law at University of Newcastle from 1998 specialising in Criminal Law, Evidence and Advocacy. Promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2005, to Associate Professor in 2010 and Professor in 2019. Primary research interest is sentencing in the criminal justice system with several journal articles published in this area. Also, has strong interest in various aspects of evidence law, legal education and the synergy between academic learning and practical legal training.
