Sleep is an extremely dynamic process fulfilling many biological needs. Our team at Stockholm University and Karolinska Institutet is focused on how our sleep and related behavior adapt to the rapidly developing 24 hour society, and their consequences for cognitive processes and health. Two of the research questions I finds most intriguing concern how the brain switches from sleep to wakefulness and why we are so differently affected by sleep loss.
