John McGowan

Dr John McGowan is the Year 1 Director and Academic Director of the Clinical Psychology Training Scheme at the Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology in Kent, UK. This is part of Canterbury Christ Church University.

Current activities include: Research on suicide and clinical decision making in high risk situations, personality disorders and recovery and the role of psychology in medical settings.

Recent grants include and award from the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology to co-ordinate the production of a review document encompasing recent advances in the thinking about and treatment of depression.

John is the editor of, and a frequent conrtibutor to, the Salomons Centre blog Discursive of Tunbridge Wells.
